Every employer is obliged to arrange health insurance for its employees. You will receive the insurance card EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) from our Payroll Dep. 2-3 months after starting your employment. If you need to see a doctor before having the card, contact our Payroll Dep. in advance to receive a temporary confirmation from the Health Insurance.

You have to show your EHIC card when you visit a doctor or a medical institution. Your treatment will be free of charge but not the medicaments (some are paid by patients fully or partially). You will be also charged CZK 90,- for visiting emergencies. Dentists are an exception – check in advance how much you will pay.

When you arrive in the CZ and are not yet registered for public health insurance (or not yet employed) you must have an alternative (travel) insurance, from a commercial insurance company or the EHIC. Those who don’t have the right to public health insurance in the CZ must get commercial health insurance.

EHIC for EU/EEA citizens (valid for necessary health care all around the EU).
